The National Tourist Board was established by an Act of Parliament in 1990 and started operations in 1991. It is a semi-autonomous body and the professional arm of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs.

Primary products such as “eco-tourism, followed by “Leisure” and “Domestic”, as the main tourist elements within the country;
Emerging products that are exciting and have potential as tourist destinations such as Beaches and Recreation Parks, waterfalls.
Activity-based products such as bird watching, diving, cruise tourism, sports & adventure tourism, gastronomy tourism, education tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions/ Events), homestay, culture and community-based tourism; To attract foreign investment and diversify tourism products and services as well as to increase marketing and promotion through alternative financing methods to help reduce the burden of Government’s spending.
