Tourism Minister Updates Journalists on Trip to Sulima
over the weekend, His Excellency the President, Dr Julius Maada Bio together with the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr Memunatu Pratt visited Sulima, showcased its beauty and declared it a tourism development asset in Sierra Leone.
Speaking to journalists on SLBC’s “Good Morning Sierra Leone” program, the Minister said that the President had made a manifesto commitment to diversifying the Tourism sector, using the quickest method to make Sierra Leone a potential hub for tourism and investment development in Africa.
She noted that Tourism has lagged behind for far too long and it was important that the Ministry take catalytic steps in changing the narrative, especially building the domestic infrastructure to support international tourism.
She maintained that over the years people would attest to the fact that Sulima had a very beautiful beach where there was a resort owned by one of the former Presidents of Sierra Leone, but emphasized that there had been a missing link in reviving those unique places to fit into the trajectory of our narrative.
She added that: “Sulima provides a good destination for ecotourism. The golden sandy beach stretches over 40 kilometres and it is also very close to Liberia. I am delighted about the President’s visit to Sulima, particularly in showcasing its beauty and also declaring it a touristic destination,” she explained.
